【摘要】:Thistestmethodiscapableofprovidingshearmodulusandshearstrengthvaluesforadhesiveswithaccuracysuitableforusebydesignengineersinpredictingthecharacteristicsofbuildingassembliesbondedwithnonrigidadhesives.Adhesiveformulatorswillalsofindthemethodusefulduringthedevelopmentofnewadhesivesystems.Ingeneral,thethickadherendlap-sheartestisausefultoolinresearchduringstudiesofbothshort-andlong-termload-deformationpropertiesofadhesives.Thisthickadherendlap-sheartestyieldsauniformityofstressdistributionapproachingthatobtainedinthintubularbuttjointssubjectedtotorsion,whichisconsideredtobeaconditionofpureshear.Theuseriscautionedthatpureshearstrengthcannotbeobtainedbythistestmethod,becausesometensileandcompressionstressesandstressconcentrationsarepresentinthejoint.Theestimateofshearstrengthbythistestmethodwillbeconservative.Ifpureshearstrengthisdemanded,thenTestMethodE229shouldbeused.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesamethodofmeasuringtheshearmodulusandrupturestressinshearofadhesivesinbondedjoints.Themethodemployslap-shearspecimenswithwood,metal,orcompositeadherends,withadhesiveshavingshearmodulirangingupto700MPa(100000psi).Thistestmethodissuitablegenerallyforjointsinwhichtheratioofadherendtensilemodulustoadhesiveshearmodulusisgreaterthan300to1.Itisnotsuitableforadhesivesthathaveahighshearmodulusinthecuredstateandthatalsorequireeliminationofvolatileconstituentsduringcure.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
